Red House EXHIBITION THEMES FOR 2026

ALL 2-D and 3-D MEDIUMS ARE WELCOMED

NOTE: Wall art is not to exceed 1296 square inches, including the frame (outer frame size).  This is the equivalent of 36"x36", though works may be longer in one dimension if the total area does not exceed 1296sqin. No easel frames, no exceptions.  There is a weight limit of 15 pounds maximum for wall-hung artwork and 20 pounds for 3-D work on pedestals. To enter the Juried Show in July 2026, members must have participated in a minimum of two of the five shows from September 2025 to June 2026.  

January - March 2026

"Novelty" – Push your boundaries of creativity and originality. This theme challenges you to explore new perspectives, innovative techniques, and unconventional ideas. By embracing the unexpected, you are encouraged to create work that redefines how we see and understand the world, offering fresh insights and unique expressions.  Studios artist without wall to exhibit on space available basis.

March - June 2026

"Moods of Color" – Consider the emotional power of color in your work. Through the use of hue, contrast, and saturation, artists are encouraged to convey atmosphere, evoke feeling, and communicate meaning. This theme challenges you to experiment with color's ability to shape perception and influence emotion.  Participation by elementary students if space is available.

May - July 2026

"Stillness and Motion" - Examine the contrasts and connections between calm and energy, balance and disruption. This theme encourages interpretations of movement and moments of stillness that offer reflection or tension. Artists are challenged to express how these forces coexist, collide, or complement one another.

"Rooted in Place" – We invite you to reflect on the deep connections between people, community, and the landscape of the mountains. This theme encourages work inspired by local traditions, natural surroundings, and shared histories—capturing the spirit, resilience, and identity that come from being grounded in these mountains and our culture.

“Light and Shadow” - Explore the powerful interplay between illumination and darkness as a means of expression. This theme encourages experimentation with contrast, whether through literal depictions or symbolic interpretations. Artists are asked to consider how light and shadow define space, reveal emotion, or evoke mystery.
